I first started gratitude journaling back in 2015 when Tim Ferriss, the author of The Four Hour Work Week and other best-selling books talked about the Five Minute Journal on his podcast the Tim Ferriss Show

Then on January 1, 2021, fourteen months after our mom received a stage four lung cancer diagnosis and nine months after the first COVID lockdown in Ontario, I got an inspiration to share my gratitude publicly. The start of the public daily gratitude allowed me to capture and share a photo diary of the final six months of our mom's life up until her death on June 24, 2021.

This practice has taught me to find the smallest things to be grateful for on the toughest of days.

It's now been over 1,200 days of sharing gratitude publicly. It's something I look forward to for self-reflection at the end of the day and on occasion a moment to share with people in my life as they share their gratitude.

So at the end of the day, take a breath and ask yourself, "What am I grateful for today?"
